How many times have I heard the Happy Goodmans sing this song? It certainly was one of their "signature songs" and it was not unsual to hear this first thing on Sunday morning on the Gospel Jubilee. But for the George Jones' fans, you will certainly remember he sang it often as well. I love waking up to these songs that I grew up with. I remember it being sung in church and I seem to recall our youth choir as a teenager would often sing it.
The text was written by James Rowe. Mr. Rowe was known for his prolific writing of hymns, poems, recitations and other works. The tune for "Won't It Be Wonderful There" was added later by Homer F. Morris and copyrighted in 1930. "Won't It Be Wonderful There" focuses on a place where there will be no more death, or sorrow, crying or pain.
"When with the savior we enter the glory land
Won't it be wonderful there?
Ended the troubles and cares of the story land
Won't it be wonderful there?
Won't it be wonderful there?
Having no burdens to bear,
Joyously singing, with heart bells all ringing,
Won't it be wonderful there?
Walking and talking with Christ, the Supernal One
Won't it be wonderful there?
Praising, adoring the Matchless Eternal One
Won't it be wonderful there?
There where the tempest will never be sweeping us
Won't it be wonderful there?
Sure that forever the Lord will be keeping us
Won't it be wonderful there?"
I hope you will enjoy hearing "Won't It Be Wonderful There" this morning!
I hope you will have a terrific Tuesday!
