Happy Sunday! I just love Sunday mornings! You also know I love the old-time convention songs and especially those from the Church Hymnal. Someone told me the other day, I should not call it the Redback Church Hymnal any more because a lot of Churches use a Greenback version. I guess they are right as I have sung out of the Greenback also but it will always be the Redback to me. LOL I love the songs in that hymnal.
"When The Home Gates Swing Open" is one of those great old songs. It was sung often in the Church I grew up in. I don't recall hearing it in a long time until a few weeks ago. I was listening to some old Gaither videos and Greater Vision sang it and they did the second verse FA SO LA. I guess I had forgot how much I enjoyed "When The Home Gates Swing Open". It was a joy to wake up to it this morning. And waking to it was even better as look what I found. When I turned to page 223 in my Church Hymnal, this is what I found between those pages.
God has always been so good to me!!!! And while I was sick, He really "showed out" showering with me so many blessings, so many wonderful people to help me with my care and recovery. I think it would take me the rest of my life to "name those blessings one by one". When I saw this sweet note, I forgot what I was going to say about the song. I don't remember putting this note in my Church Hymnal but this morning I'm glad I did! And page 223 was with this morning's song!
I pray you will have an amazing Sunday and enjoy hearing "When The Home Gates Swing Open".
