I suspect everyone who has enjoyed gospel music over the past many years, has heard this song more than once. This is a favorite of many bass singers and and gospel music lovers and I loved waking up to it this morning! It is a song I remember hearing way back in my childhood.
This is another one of over 300 songs written by Cleavant Derricks. I have mentioned him in a couple of previous posts. "Just a Little Talk with Jesus," "We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles and Trials," and "When He Blessed My Soul" are just a few of the more popular songs written by him. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1984. He is the father of twin actor sons, Cleavant Derricks and Clinton Derricks-Carroll. Mr. Derricks must have been a bass singer or loved bass singing as his most popular songs feature bass singing. And bass singers have often "showed out" as they preformed these great songs.
Of course, I woke up to hearing Mike Holcomb and The Inspirations. They have performed it in their services for many years and recorded it several times during their long history. One of their most memorable recordings for me was when they recorded their first "live" album. But I woke up to a more recent version and i will post that link. I hope you will enjoy!
The sun is shining bright this Saturday morning and I pray you will have an awesome day!
