Waking up to this song makes me a little nostalgic and feeling very blessed. Growing up, enjoying Church music and southern Gospel music, I have also considered as one of the main things that has enriched my life. The great old songs and hymns of the Church and good old quartet music has always made me happy if I'm listening to it or trying to sing it.
I first heard "Reunion In Heaven" sometime around 1967 when The Inspirations first recorded it. It was one of those I will always remember hearing them sing when I first learned about the guys who became my favorite quartet. Over time, it became better known as "What A Wonderful Time". It is one that the group still sings today in many of their services.
Over the 54 years or so that I have listened to the Inspirations, there have been several changes in the groups make-up but a couple of things have always remained the same. First and most important, they sing because they love The Lord and desire to share the Gospel Story through song. (There's been some preachers and preaching along the way also). And second, their basic sound has been pretty consistent regardless of who is singing or playing.
I hope you will enjoy hearing one of the first songs I remember hearing them sing. I will share two links. The first is from the Sunday morning television program, The Gospel Jubilee with the original group and the second was recorded just a few months ago.
I pray you will have a blessed Monday!
