What A Happy Time

I am very late posting my morning blog, but in the middle of the night I was beginning to wonder if I would have a song to post. I was thinking, when you are awake and if you do not sleep all night, will I still hear a song in the morning. Well I finally was able to go to sleep and awoke with an old song.

Let me first explain why I was not able to sleep. Yesterday, we had thunderstorms in our area most of the afternoon and into the early morning hours. Now that's not the reason, I couldn't sleep because I think I could sleep through a tornado. LOL But sweet little Izzy, as she has grown older does not deal with strange noises or storms. She used to not be bothered, but after her bladder surgery a couple of years ago, she just doesn't deal with noises that are not suppose to be (well at least in her opinion LOL). Don't let the batteries go dead in the smoke detectors. And when a thunder storm is predicted during the night hours, be prepared to be up. But last night she was terribly traumatized for some reason.

Normally, I can get up and she will sit in my chair with me until she calms down. But last night this didn't work. She was in my chair with me, but wanted down. As soon as, she got down she wanted back up only for this to go on and on. She wanted me to walk thru the house with her, I guess so she could check everything out but this still didn't work. Finally, it appeared as we were walking she wanted me to pick her up. I walked around carrying her like a baby. I was so tired of walking and I would stop and rock her. She would lay her head on my shoulder and relax. Bless her little heart, the thunder had stopped long ago but she just was not able to calm down. At last, about 4:30 am, she seemed ready to go back to sleep and she did and so did I.

Now look at that pretty little face. Can you imagine such a sweet puppy keeping you awake? Well she did. Can you say rotten? LOL But precious and at almost 14 years old, I'll keep her and try to take care of all her needs.

But I was able to go to sleep and was blessed to wake to a song I remember The Happy Goodman Family sing so many times, especially on Sunday mornings on the Gospel Jubilee. I believe this old song was written in the early 1900's even though the Church Hymnal shows the copyright as being 1933. The Happy Goodmans recorded "What A Happy Time" in 1967 and was included in almost all their concerts throughout the rest of their career. The "What A Happy Time" album also included several other Goodman favorites that you may remember. "Who Am I", "There's A Light Guiding Me", "It'll All Be Over But The Shoutin' ", "Until You've Known" along with several others I recall hearing them sing. I told the story several weeks ago about my gift of a record collection of one of the sweetest ladies ever. This album was included in that collection.

I hope you will enjoy hearing The Happy Goodman Family sing, "What A Happy Time" this morning.

And by the way, Izzy is still asleep this morning. She didn't rest good last night. LOL I hope you have an amazing Monday!
