The good Lord definitely wanted me up early this morning! I went to bed pretty tired last night as I woke up early yesterday. I wanted to be sure to get plenty of sleep as I think a man of my age has no business snoozing thru the Sunday morning sermon. LOL But about 12:30, my "morning song" alarm clock went off to "We Shall See Heaven Someday". I prayed, "Lord it's pretty early. Don't you think I need a little more sleep?" So I lay there for a while listening to the song and dozed back off. But at 2:00, the "alarm" went back off. I was wide awake and I was convinced the Lord wanted me to write about "We Shall See Heaven Someday".
But I had a little problem. I was not sure what to write. I was familiar with the song but not totally sure why. I went back through the titles of all my morning posts. I thought perhaps I had woke up to it before and had already wrote something about my experience. But that was not the case. However, I enjoyed going back thru the song titles and I thought, that would make a pretty good program for Southern Gospel Quartet concert. Maybe I should buy a bus (I know where there's one for sale LOL) and find 3 others to hit the road with me. (Buying the bus would be a lot easier than finding 3 people who would sing and travel with ME! LOL) As I thought a little harder and more, I began to realize the problem. I could not hear a bass singer. LOL And it all began to come together.
This song has been sung by many, but they have also called it by different titles. Some have recorded simply it as "Someday". Some have labeled it as "Someday We Shall See Jesus". And as I continue writing, I'm still not sure of the "official title". I love the song and the words of the song. Ever group has sung it a little differently and i enjoyed my early wake up call by the Booth Brothers (even though they don't have a bass singer LOL).
"There’s a city, a beautiful city just beyond the divide. Where God’s children shall rest eternal. There will ever abide Daily striving to reach that homeland We are going that way. Headed for glory, telling the story We shall see Heaven someday.
Someday, someday we shall see Jesus Someday by and by. Someday, someday these eyes shall behold Him In that city on high. We must not linger, we must keep moving Jesus is leading the way. Shouting and singing, joy bells ringing We shall see heaven someday.
Like the saints who have gone before us, We’re determined to stay. In the path that is straight and narrow Leading us forward each day. Though we have problems, Jesus is faithful All our needs to supply. The time is now nearing, for He’s appearing For our heavenly flight."
And for me, I'm going to post a quartet, with a bass singer. LOL I hope you will enjoy!
See you in church this morning!
