Victory In Jesus

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

The Super Bowl is about 2 weeks away and then game time. After 60 minutes of playing one another, one of the teams will claim the "victory". A lot of us will enjoy watching the game (and commercials) and some will celebrate which team is "victorious". I will probably watch and enjoy. I understand while I was in the hospital and in the coma, they turned on the Super Bowl so I could "watch it" LOL. I guess they knew I love football and would want to see it. (In reality, I think it was for the staff who was tending to me. I promise, I know nothing about that year's game.) But that is what is what it is, a game. The Super Bowl is a game where the team with the most points wins.

This morning, I woke to an old song, we all are familiar as it has been sung so many times but never enough in my opinion. It describes true "Victory". We sing the words "Victory In Jesus". Jesus walked this earth touching people's lives, teaching, healing bringing comfort and was tempted in the things of this world. Yet He was "victorious" over all temptation, living a perfect, sinless life. But He was led up Calvary's hill, suffered pain and agony as he hung on the cross, shed his precious blood for us and died. Then, just as He said, after death, He was buried and rose again, VICTORIOUS over DEATH! Now that's VICTORY!

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." 1 John 5:4

Jesus did not keep the Victory for Himself. He gives this Victory to all by believing in Him and we can claim this Victory as our very own through our belief and faith. There are a couple of other songs that come to mind this morning as I write my thoughts about "Victory In Jesus" and I love hearing them also. "Victory Was Won At Calvary" is one of my favorites.

I have been listening to different versions of "Victory In Jesus" for the last 30 to 45 minutes. I love them all but can't post them all so I will post two. I pray you will be blessed by at least one and hopefully both.

As I close this morning's message, I want to share one more thing. It's a prayer, written and posted last night on FB by one of the church's precious young ladies. Thank you Lord for her and your Victories you gave us all!
