Today we remember and honor the many that lost their lives from the terrible evil that struck our country on this day 19 years ago. This terrible evil appeared to unite our country. Patriotism and love for all spread through out our country and really to some extent around the world. We all remember where we were when we first heard about the horrible event. We said we would never forget.
Fast forward to today. Do we remember? Does that day still have the same impact on our lives and on our country as it did then and the years that followed? We have a whole generation of young people who were not alive on 9/11. Do these young people know and understand? Could many of those be the ones who are creating such havoc and destruction in some of out cities today? Evil is evil regardless of where it comes from and we should call it out for what it is. I have always heard, history has a way of repeating itself and as I have grown older, I see how true this is.
But we don't teach history any longer so we can learn from it. I realize that there has been many years of history since the beginning of time and to write about every event would fill volumes. Just in my 66 years so many things have happened, both good and bad that have impacted me and others. But it would take quite a few, many page history books to write about just those years. So it is difficult to write and study all of history. But who is picking what we teach and remember of the past? The greatest history book of all time was taken out of the schools in my lifetime.
This past week during our Wednesday night Bible Study, Brother John continued with our study of Daniel's prayer. He used as scripture reference Daniel 9:6-14. As Brother John read those verses, I was thinking, Daniel's prayer was appropriate for us to pray today, virtually word for word. History does repeat itself and we do not learn from it. But there is a 3 letter word that has impacted all of us throughout history and still impacts us today and that word is SIN.
There's another history lesson in The Bible that we need to teach and never forget and that's about God's Love. It's the answer and our only hope to fight the evil and save us from the sin that we have in our lives. It was yesterday, it is today and it will be forever .... God's Love!
I'm so glad to wake up to this great old song written I believe by Rusty Goodman in the mid 60's. When I woke up to it, it brought joy but then I begin to think what will I write. So after all my rambling, I hope that you will be blessed today with this song! As we remember 9/11 and enjoy Friday, we should also remember love people, love God, because He first loved us!
