There Will Be Shouting

The Braves and Falcons came to Atlanta early in my childhood and so I became a fan of professional baseball and football pretty quickly. I listened to so many games on a pocket transistor radio (Remember those? I won't try to explain. LOL) It was fun growing up and occasionally being able to attend a game. When I was an adult I was able to go more often. I attended games all the time and even became an Atlanta Falcon Season Ticket holder. I loved sports and loved all the excitement of attending a game in person. The screaming, yelling, high-fiving and all of the fun stuff that goes with your team scoring a point or winning a game seemed so exhilarating. This morning's song, I remember The Cathedrals singing so often, reminds me of a story.

I was fortunate to be at the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium for game 7 of the NLCS when the Braves beat the Pirates to go to the world series for the second year in a row. For Braves' fans and as a reminder, this was the game when Sid Bream (perhaps the slowest runner in baseball at the time) beat the throw to home, sliding to win the game. The stadium erupted in cheers. People hugging, high-fiving. I was in the upper deck of the old stadium that night, it was rocking and I was kind of thinking the place might collapse. It was that loud. I have often said it was the most exciting game I have ever attended and I've been to some good ones.

Well, with that said, isn't it funny how we can get so excited over things that in reality are fun but not that important. I believe one day we will see some "real excitement"! Can you imagine the shouting, the rejoicing that goes on in Heaven when someone reaches Home? I believe the noise in the stadium that night will be pale in comparison to the shouting in Heaven. I don't think there will be any resemblance to the joy and happiness I thought I felt with that win. We will reach Home, we won't have to slide, there's not even a throw we have to beat and "There Will Be Shouting" all over Glory!!! The victory is won and the victory is sweet. It will be a reunion day like none other!!!

I hope you will enjoy The Cathedrals this morning singing "There Will Be Shouting".

I pray you will have a blessed Tuesday!
