The Longer I Serve Him

This beautiful song is one of the many songs written by Bill and Gloria Gaither. They were inspired to write this song from the words of Bill's grandmother in her final days. It is said over the days before she died she would be rejoicing and singing her favorite songs. As the end neared Bill asked her, had it been worth it, serving Jesus all these years? She replied, "Billy, the longer I serve Him, the sweeter it grows".

I have always loved hearing this song . Even when I watch a video, I can see the sweet and moving spirit engulf the singers and those listening. The words are powerful and ring so true. There are several choices of videos I could have posted as I do not have a favorite. But I woke up hearing Greater Vision when it was sung with Ed O'Neal, the bass singer of the Dixie Melody Boys. But I'm also reminded of Danny Gaither singing a verse at one of the Gaither praise gatherings. So I will post both.

"The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows. The more that I love Him, more love He bestows. Each day is like Heaven, my heart overflows, the longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows."
