What a beautiful way to start my day! "The Haven Of Rest" is a hymn I have loved hearing my entire life. It is one I remember hearing sung in church in my early childhood but my most vivid early memory of this song was as a teenager. One of my pastors, would sing this song often and I loved it! But my favorite rendition of this song is of Glen Payne singing it with Guy Penrod. I'll share that video this morning!
"The Haven Of Rest" is another one of the old hymns that has stood the test of time. It was written by Henry L. Gilmour in 1890 and has been published in many hymnals over the years! It has also been a favorite of many gospel artist and recorded by many. I loved scrolling through You Tube this morning listening to many.
I hope you will enjoy hearing Glen Payne this morning. Glen was probably my most favorite gospel music quartet lead singer. Not so much for the quality of his voice though I thought it was one of the best. Not for his stage presence, yet always he always appeared humble and gracious. But I believe Glen was a good man who loved the Lord and loved sharing God's word through song. I believe I remember this video link was when The Gaithers were honoring The Cathedrals in their Farwell Tour. Of course, Glen did an amazing job as always singing "The Haven Of Rest" but when Guy Penrod joined him it took the song "over the top" in my opinion.
I hope you will enjoy as I did this morning and I pray you will have an awesome day!
