"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJV)
Perhaps this is one of the best known and loved verses of scriptures in the entire Bible. We see it shared often in so many ways. Someone holding up a poster at a football game for the cameras to see. We may see it on a billboard along the roadside. I've seen it painted as "graffiti" on a wall of a building. It is one of the first verses we memorize as a young child in Sunday School. It is one verse that states the very foundation of our salvation. God's love for us that He gave us the gift of His Son to shed His blood and die for our sins so we can live with Him forever!
And God shows His ongoing love for us in so many other ways! I was thinking about this as I rode home from church yesterday morning. A beautiful service in our sanctuary, singing and worshipping with wonderful friends, after church having the opportunity to greet several (social distancing of course) but getting to talk, share and enjoy the smiles again. Why He loves me, I don't understand but I'm so thankful He does and I love how He shows me over and over again!
Another way, is how I woke this morning! "Thanks For Loving Me" was written I believe around 1974 by George Amon Webster while a member of The Cathedrals Quartet. But my first recollection of hearing this song was in 1976 (I think) when I attended the concert where The Inspirations recorded their first live album. I loved the song when I first heard it and I love hearing it now even though I do not hear it too often.
I pray you will enjoy hearing The Cathedrals this morning sing "Thanks For Loving Me".
It's a beautiful Monday! Let's enjoy it together!
