After waking to "Sweet, Sweet Spirit", I'm having trouble with what to write this morning. I don't know if I should write about our Church Service yesterday or my feelings and expectations for today. Maybe I should just talk about both!
Our Sunday School lesson reminded us to praise God in the good and to praise Him in the bad. Job, lost everything, but in his grief he still praised and loved his God. I can never enter the choir room and spend the few minutes preparing before the service without thinking about "Sweet, Sweet Spirit". Not only is that the atmosphere but I'm reminded it was in a choir room in about 1962 when Doris Akers was inspired to write this song prior to a service. The song service was perfect to prepare our hearts for a tremendous message by Brother Steven on Matthew 5:5, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” It was a good day to be in the House of the Lord!
And then this morning, I wake to this amazing song and before long I started to think about another song, "I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About To Happen". There is just something special about the newness (is that a word?) of a day, when God is speaking to you and you know He is in control. It's an awesome way to start a new day! It is bound to be special in all kind of ways!
A few days ago, I ran across a recording by a group I was not familiar with, "Voices For Christ". I loved the way they sung the sweet old hymn, "Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus". After a little research I found they are a ladies musical group from South Africa. I was curious this morning when I heard "Sweet, Sweet Spirit" if they had recorded it. And yes they had so I will share this link.
