Somebody Loves Me

"I’m in love with my Savior and He’s in love with me, He is with me from day to day, what a friend is He, Watches over me while I sleep, hears me when I pray, I’m as happy as I can be, and I now can say:

  • Refrain: Somebody loves me, answers my prayers, I love Somebody, I know He cares; Somebody tells me not to repine, That Somebody is Jesus, and I know He’s mine.

You’ll be happy if you will let Jesus have His way, He has work for us all to do every passing day; Feed the hungry and cheer the sad, for the sinner pray; You’ll have joy that you never had, and you then can say:

Then at last when our work is done, He will call us home To a mansion He has prepared, nevermore to roam; We’ll sit down by the riverside, cares all passed away, And with never a pain to bear, what a happy day."

I loved waking up to "Somebody Loves Me" this morning. This is a song, the boy's quartet sang so many years ago. I can still (even with this failing memory) remember every word as if I just sang it yesterday. It was one we sang quite regularly. It's kind of funny. If you asked me to sit down and list the songs we used to sing, I would be hard pressed to remember the names but just a few. Then i wake up to one and I remember it like it was yesterday.

"Somebody Loves Me" is a song that I don't think I would consider very popular today.. I have heard it rarely sung since, I use to sing it. I have heard the Gatlin Brothers sing it and I think it has been sung on the Gaither videos a couple of times. It was written by W. F. and Marjorie Crumley.

They say you can "google it" and find out about anything. Well this morning, I don't find too much about this old song I use to sing. Apparently this is the only song written by W. F. and Marjorie Crumley and I could not find the year it was written. It appears in only 6 hymnals. However, while it may not be popular today, beginning in 1963, it was recorded by many of the "top" gospel groups of the time and for several years later. In 1963 it was recorded by the Blackwood Brothers, Rosie Rozell and The Statesman, and The Speers. Several other groups recorded it over the next few years but it kind of disappeared in the early 80's.

It's still popular with me as I love the words and it was always one of my favorites for our group to sing. I hope you will be blessed with the words and hope you will enjoy hearing it this morning!

Happy Monday!!!!
