"And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word." Luke 10:39
I loved waking to this sweet, beautiful old hymn. It's not one that you hear too often but I love the words and the message it delivers. Can you just imagine Mary's blessing to be at the feet of her Jesus, listening to His words? Can you just imagine, Jesus looking down and her eyes looking into His as she captured in her heart every word He spoke?
I really don't have the words to describe what I want to say but I'm going to try. It has taken me too long to realize the moments I have had each and every day to sit at Jesus feet. After a life of working, running around crazy, it has taken me to the point in my life when I have slowed down and realized the moments I have missed spending it with my Lord. As I have said many times, though I have failed Him, He has never failed me! How precious my mornings are to me, to spend time at His feet in prayer and thanking Him for His saving grace. The time gathering my thoughts to share the song He gave me to start my day. There are so many times now that I realize that these are times when I'm sitting at Jesus' feet. Gathered with my Christian friends for Church services, Prayer meeting, Bible Study, Choir practice and many more. The times in the yard, enjoying creation and communing with my Lord. Those moments sitting in my chair, reading the Scriptures and letting the Word speak to me.
In the first few lines of this old hymn it says, "Happy place! so near, so precious! May it find me there each day" . And then the second verse begins, "Sitting at the feet of Jesus, where can mortal be more blest?" As I said, I love the words of this beautiful hymn. Maybe it would be ok just to post all the words for you to read.
"Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
Oh, what words I hear Him say!
Happy place! so near, so precious!
May it find me there each day;
Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
I would look upon the past;
For His love has been so gracious,
It has won my heart at last.
Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
Where can mortal be more blest?
There I lay my sins and sorrows,
And, when weary, find sweet rest;
Sitting at the feet of Jesus,
There I love to weep and pray;
While I from His fullness gather
Grace and comfort every day.
Bless me, O my Savior, bless me,
As I sit low at Thy feet
Oh, look down in love upon me,
Let me see Thy face so sweet;
Give me, Lord, the mind of Jesus,
Keep me holy as He is;
May I prove I’ve been with Jesus,
Who is all my righteousness."
I pray you will be blessed my hearing "Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus" today!
I'm going to share a couple of additional links that you may enjoyed as I have this morning!
