Old Country Church

I have always loved attending an old country church. The singing, praying, preaching, shouting has always been something that does my heart good. Just pulling up in the church "yard" was an awesome feeling. So many didn't even have a parking lot so that's why I call it a church "yard". The little churches were always so simple, yet majestic sitting normally under the trees with the church cemetery close by. There often was no particular order of worship as the service went as the Spirit led. You could be sure there was always going to be some good singing and preaching.

What a joy it was to be invited to sing at one of the services. I truly counted it an honor. And I can't remember a time that I didn't leave feeling so very blessed. When I travel, I will often pass one of these type churches or at least from an outward appearance that is what I think and it brings back so many memories. I suspect many of you remember attending some of those old time services. Sitting on those wooden pews, the "funeral home" fans waving to stay cooler and the Holy Spirit was in our midst. Some of you may attend churches like that today! I find it interesting why so many of our "old time country" churches have decided to be more like the "uptown" churches. (However, as I have gotten older, I do find the padded pews and air conditioning nice LOL) But as long as the Gospel is being preached and the Holy Spirit is allowed to be a part of the service, it's an "old country church" to me.

I pray you will be blessed hearing "The Old Country Church" today!

I hope you have a great Thursday!
