And yes it is Friday, but this morning's song is about an even happier day than Friday!
This is an old song we used to sing often when I attended Corinth Church in my late teens and early 20's. I believe there was a very "upbeat" version in the movie "Sister Act" (not being a big movie person, I think that was the name).
Several months ago, I remember waking to "Oh Happy Day" and I think I posted a couple of different links because I simply could not decide on the version I wanted to share. This morning I woke to what I would call the old traditional version and memories of my Uncle Johnny as he would often lead this as a congregation song from the Church Hymnal.
This past week, I was reminded of a group that I listened to often when I was a teenager. They were founded by Jake Hess in the mid 60's as I recall. They were very "contemporary" for time and they had a great following, especially with young people. I hope you will enjoy hearing The Imperials sing "Oh Happy Day" in their upbeat and soulful style.
Now no one can say I don't like "contemporary" anymore. Well, at least the older "contemporary".
Here's a link the more traditional version.
I pray you will have a happy day!
