A few weeks ago, I was listening to one of my Pandora channels on SiriusXM radio and "My God Is Real" popped up as the song that was going to play. I was expecting to hear the "My God Is Real" version I had heard all my life. The version I remember being sung by the Statesmen Quartet, the Oak Ridge Boys, The Florida Boys, and many others. I noticed this song was going to be sung by Mountain Faith.
As the song started to play, I quickly realized this was a different song and a song I do not recall ever hearing before. I enjoyed listening and since I was not familiar with Mountain Faith, I wrote it down so I could listen again later and try to find out more about Mountain Faith. A few days went by and I looked up Mountain Faith. I thought, no wonder I like them. They are a family group that started in Sylva, NC. Sylva use to be one of my favorite little Smokey Mountain towns. It was where I would always stay when I went to The Singing In The Smokies. I have fond memories of attending services on several occasions at East Sylva Baptist Church. A beautiful church sitting out in a valley, nestled in the mountains. A picture of this church (as I remember it) would be like one of the many posts every Sunday morning by our sweet friend, Sue! Back before the virus, I had the opportunity to visit with one our precious homebound members. As we visited, I learned she was from Sylva and then we had lots to talk about. I love the memories and finding Mountain Faith brought back so many.
I listened to Mountain Faith and "My God Is Real" numerous times over several days and I am happy to wake up with it this morning and I'm glad to share it with you. I hope you will listen to the words and be blessed.
I pray you will have a good Wednesday and I hope to see you at Prayer Meeting tonight!
