Good Sunday Morning!!! What a good way to wake this morning, hearing this wonderful old song. It's hard to believe, but I don't think I have ever woke to this one before and it's always been one of my favorites.
As I start my day with "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" I'm reminded of Gerald's chicken wing night in the late 80's. I have spoke of these regular Friday night gathering at his house. Gerald would grill the finest chicken wings and the ladies would bring all kind of "yummies" to enjoy. And when we had all finished "grazing" we would gather around the piano and sing. Gerald had a rule, "if you could sing you couldn't and if you couldn't sing you could". I was glad that I wasn't able to sing so I could join in.
Now the people attending these events were mostly people from the office, all of different backgrounds and none of us had ever attended a church service together unless it was a funeral. But we could all sing the great old songs and hymns of the Church as if we were a choir or a congregation that had been singing together for years. No songbooks, just Bobby playing the piano "by ear" and everyone raising their voices in song with words from memory. It was incredible times with friends. I told Gerald not too long ago, I wish we could have a "chicken wing" night one more time!
"Just A Little Talk With Jesus" is one of the many songs I remember us singing. This wonderful old song was written by Rev. Cleavant Derricks in 1937. I have wrote about him before and mentioned several of the other good songs he penned. "When God Dipped His Love In My Heart," "We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles and Trials," and "When He Blessed My Soul" are just 3 other songs he gave us.
I hope you will be blessed hearing "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" today!
Pray for all of our Church services this morning!
