Jesus Paid It All

This morning I wake up so humble and grateful for all God's blessings on my life. I have often said, I have to be the most blessed person ever. I'm so underserving, but as Dave Ramsey would say, I am blessed far more than I deserve. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wakes up hearing a song but I'm so thankful that God uses this manner to start my day!

"Jesus Paid It All" is one of those old beautiful hymns I have loved hearing my entire life. In 1865, Elvira Hall, sitting in the choir, listening to her pastor's sermon, wrote the words on the inside cover of a hymnal. After church, she gave the words to the minister. That same week, the church organist, John Grape, shared some new music, ""All To Christ I Owe", with the same pastor. The preacher thought the words written by Ms. Hall and the music of Mr. Grape kind of went good together and in a short time "Jesus Paid It All" became a hymn. God works in mysterious ways and this is an example and of how He used these three people to compose a hymn that has been a beloved song for many.

It's nothing that I could have done. My sin debt was stamped "paid in full" through Jesus' shed blood on the cross of Calvary. Yes, "Jesus Paid It All" for me!

I hear the Savior say, “Thy strength indeed is small; Child of weakness, watch and pray, Find in Me thine all in all.”

  • Refrain: Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

Lord, now indeed I find

Thy pow’r, and Thine alone,

Can change the leper’s spots

And melt the heart of stone.

For nothing good have I Whereby Thy grace to claim; I’ll wash my garments white In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

And now complete in Him, My robe, His righteousness, Close sheltered ’neath His side, I am divinely blest.

When from my dying bed My ransomed soul shall rise, “Jesus died my soul to save,” Shall rend the vaulted skies.

And when before the throne I stand in Him complete, I’ll lay my trophies down, All down at Jesus’ feet.

I pray you will enjoy hearing this beautiful old hymn this morning!
