No, I did not wake up to the old Beatles hit song! LOL But instead, I woke up to hearing my favorite quartet singing an old song from the old Church Hymnal, page 62. I used the word "old" three times. I guess that's what I am also. The copyright for "It Won't Be Long" shows 1937 by Charles W. Vaughn. I could not find too much more information about it but there's a lot for the song sung by the Beatles but I promise they are not the same. LOL
I remember this song being sung in the church I grew up in but I don't recall ever hearing it too much after that. In the early 80's, The Inspirations recorded "It Won't Be Long" on their live "Singing In The Smokies" album and then recorded it again in 2012 on their "It's In The Savior's Hands" CD. They recorded it with a little different "spin" to the song as I remember it growing up. The Inspirations use their bass singer to take the lead throughout the song. Of course, I love hearing Mike sing, I enjoy this song and I was glad to wake up to this memory today.
If you like good old fashion quartet singing with low down bass singing that's fun and toe tapping. I believe you will enjoy my song of the morning. I sure hope you will!!!
I hope you have a beautiful Friday!
