I don't know when this song was written but I remember the first time I heard it. My cousin and I, in 1976 or 1977 traveled from Atlanta to Warner Robbins, GA to hear The Inspirations record their first live album. It seems the 70's were the years for live albums as many popular artists captured many of their services before audiences. Besides The Inspirations, two of my other favorite live recordings during this time were made by The Happy Goodman Family and The Kingsmen.
The Inspirations continued to include "Shoutin' Time" in their services and on occasion they still sing it today. But when I think of this song, I most often think of The Hoppers. The Hoppers started singing this song and I believe really made it popular. Who can forget their performance on the Gaither video recorded in Atlanta several years ago?
I hope you will enjoy hearing The Hoppers singing this hand clapper this morning! I pray your Tuesday will be terrific!
