It's A Grand And Glorious Feeling

"It's A Grand And Glorious Feeling" just to be a child of God! I am so blessed! I know I'm repeating myself and I do it often (my family and others remind me of that often LOL) But I am blessed!

Yesterday was a grand and glorious day! After the chill in the air was gone, I went outside to do some stuff. Not that anything really needed to be done but I wanted to be outside. It's difficult to do stuff with my portable oxygen machine, so I take my long hose and place it on one of the front porch chairs so it's ready when I need it. As I said, there was not much to do (and that's a good thing because I can't do much LOL). But I began to weed the beds, I trimmed back the privet shrubs (My master gardener Jim said it would be ok but I was going to do it anyway. LOL) But it wasn't too long and I was on the porch looking for the oxygen. As I sat there, the warmth of the sun felt so good and I started to think about God's goodness and how awesome He has been to me. it was a good day to be outside and enjoy, even if it was only for a little while.

Some of you know, I love to wake up early, sit in my chair and watch the night turn to day. The beauty of the sunning coming up and the realization I have another day of opportunity is something to enjoy. Last Wednesday night, during our Bible Study, Brother John discussed how God speaks to us through His creation. In just a little while, the sun will be rising and for me it's God proclaiming His love for me and His desire for me to be a better servant of His. In the beauty of yesterday, it was hard not to sit there on the front porch and thank God for His blessings on my life . Today it's suppose to rain, but without the rain, the weeds I pulled yesterday won't grow back LOL but neither will the flowers or all of the other beautiful things we enjoy.

I'm sure I'm repeating myself, as I have told the story of me leaving the hospital after almost 6 months. I had gone through two seasons without feeling the cold, the hot, the rain, the wind, or hearing the birds sing and all those kind of things. In the hospital room, my window was almost blocked so it was difficult to even know night from day. As they loaded me into the ambulance to transport me to rehab, I was taken by being outside again even for just that brief moment. The sun was shining and I looked down the hill, between the buildings and I saw a little green patch of grass and a Dogwood Tree in bloom. It was beautiful! When I went in the hospital, it was after all the trees had lost their leaves and the grass was no longer green. "It was beautiful" can not really describe what I saw and felt.

Again, this is another time, I wish I was a "writer" and had the words to truly express myself. I'm sure I'm rambling and repeating myself. Waking up to this old Albert E. Brumley song was a "grand and glorious" experience. The memories of singing this song in churches and remembering it as one of those that the congregation would really just "let it go" and sing. Oh, how I love the old hymns (I'm repeating myself)!

We use the word "grand" so often. Grand Canyon, Grand Piano, Grand Kids, Grand Central Station, the Grand Ole Opry and on and on. And yes, in my opinion all of those things are spectacular and "grand". But Albert E. Brumley could not have captured the feeling of being a Christian any better as he used the words of "grand and glorious" together to describe the feeling of being a child of God! And it gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by.

"His love comes over me stealing, making my pathway brighter grow as on I plod"

"Ev'ry day I'll tell the old story, of his love I'll ever sing. What a grand and glorious feeling, just to be walking and to be talking with my King."

God's love for us, His Creation, His Son Jesus Christ is "glorious". I am so blessed and thankful for that "grand and glorious feeling" just to be a child of God!
