Several weeks ago, I thought about this song all the time. I went around singing it in my mind, and when I was in the car driving it was my car song. I often would walk up to a close friend and greet them by saying, "If you knew Him, like I know Him". I remember walking into the church office one morning, Brother Roger was sitting right inside the door and as I shook his hand, I said, "if you knew Him, like I know Him". I sure miss Brother Roger and him leading our choir in beautiful music of God's love for us. In all my many years of singing and in choirs, I believe I had rather sing with Brother Roger than anyone else. I'll sure be glad to have choir practice again!
Now by saying those lines to my friends and Brother Roger, I don't mean to imply that they don't know Him as I do, for I'm sure they do, especially Bother Roger. But what an immense joy it is to know Jesus, to have accepted Him as our personal Savior and feel him deep inside. The tomb is empty and He's alive!!! What a message to share with everyone we meet!!! I love the song but especially the words of the chorus.
"If you knew Him, like I know Him
You would know that He's alive
If you felt Him, like I feel Him
Resurrection, deep inside
You'd know He's living
And death has died."
Now this is not one of the old hymns that I seem to always wake up with and write about. I believe this song is only about 10 or 11 years old and was written by Rodney Griffin, one of the great songwriters and gospel music artists today. (I could be wrong so please feel free to correct me.) It has been sung by many gospel groups but I seem to remember The Perrys made the song popular. I hope you will enjoy hearing "If You Knew Him Like I know Him" this morning!
