It was really nice to wake up to another one of the many songs written by Dottie Rambo. It was copyrighted in 1969 and recorded on her album titled "Sheltered". The song became widely popular when Elvis Presley recorded it in 1974. It has been sung and recorded by many others over the years including George Beverly Shea and many times by various artists on the Gaither videos.
"He left the splendor of heaven
Knowing His destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down His life for me.
CHORUS:
If that isn't love the ocean is dry
There're no stars in the sky
And the sparrow can't fly!
If that isn't love then heaven's a myth
There's no feeling like this
If that isn't love.
Even in death He remembered
The thief hanging by His side;
He spoke with love and compassion
Then He took him to Paradise."
I woke up to hearing Elvis singing what I think was one of his most emotional and powerful gospel songs he recorded. I hope you will enjoy hearing his version of "If That Isn't Love".
Of course, you know I love southern gospel quartets so I will share a quartet version I like by The Blackwood Brothers.
