“Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.” Psalms 66;16 (KJV)
" I will sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ who died for me.
How He left His home in glory
For the cross of Calvary.
I was lost, but Jesus found me,
Found the sheep that went astray,
Threw His loving arms around me,
Drew me back into His way."
I have always loved singing and trying to sing. As I wake up to this beautiful old hymn, I think about the excitement of singing and telling the wondrous story of Jesus and what He has done for us. I love watching people sing and that's one of the reasons I love posting songs from the Gaither videos or congregations singing. You can just see the joy on their faces as they sing, rejoicing in song of God's love for us. I love the feeling of the comes over me as I try to sing God's praises. I pray we never tire or lose the enthusiasm of doing this. As the great Mosie Lister song says, "I will sing it while ages shall roll."
"I Will Sing The Wondrous Story" was written in 1866 by Francis H. Rowley and the music composed that same year by Peter P. Bilhorn. I will always be amazed how an idea can be turned into a poem, music can be added and before you know it, there is a hymn being sung by many, published in so many hymnals and it stands the test of time. I really should not be amazed because when God is in it, anything is possible.
"Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea."
I write my post each morning trying to share the thoughts in my mind and on my heart and then I go to You Tube to find the song I heard or one like it. This morning, I could not find the exact version I was hearing. So, I will share two versions I hope you will enjoy! The first is from the Gaither series but no video.
The second link is a version I had not heard from before but a story is also shared that I thought you would enjoy!
I pray you will have a terrific Tuesday!
