A very sweet way to wake this morning! This song has been among my favorites for so long. The Inspirations recorded it on I believe their 4th album in 1967 and this was the first album I purchased. I remember the Happy Goodman Family singing it in their concerts but I also remember them singing it often on the Gospel Jubilee on Sunday mornings. It was written in 1952 by Carl Trivette and it wasn't long until it was one of the songs preformed by many groups. Country music artist, Alan Jackson made it a very popular song when he recorded it on one of his gospel music albums in 2006.
I believe the last time I heard it sung was at the last funeral I attended of a dear friend at the church. But my fondest memory was one night at the "Singing In the Smokies" with The Inspirations on stage. I've mentioned the "Singing In The Smokies" in previous posts but it is an incredible place to enjoy gospel music and admire God's creation of the beautiful mountains. It seems the sound of gospel music just travels for miles to all the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Of course, I have heard Archie and The Inspirations sing "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" many times. But this time was just a little more special as Archie shared his personal testimony before singing. I wish I had a video, but all I can find is a old scratchy recording from the live album. There's a little extra blessing with this recording as they will also sing "I'll Meet You In The Morning". I hope you will enjoy!
