I believe it was in the late 60"s when I first heard "I've Come To Far To Look Back". I believe it was written by Nancy Harmon and I seem to recall it was a pretty popular song among many gospel music artists. The Inspirations recorded it in 1972 on their "We Shall Rise" album. I remember the Lefevres singing it throughout the 70's. The Hoppers have sung it thru the years and still include it in many of their concerts today. But it was in about 1979 that the song really "hit home" with me. The Rex Nelon Singers recorded it on their "Feelings" album and I played and sang along with it over and over again.
Last night during prayer meeting and during one of our discussions, "I've Come To Far To Look Back" came to my mind. Brother John's Bible study was on taking steps to becoming a mature Christian. By the time service was over, the song had left my thoughts and I was thinking about other things. When I got home, I turned on my computer and to my joy, I saw where The Inspirations had a live church service last night. It was recorded and posted on FB. I spent the next hour or so, listening to my favorite quartet. Well, the Good Lord decided that I needed to think about and hear "I've Come To Far To Look Back" and so that is the way I woke up this morning.
I hope you will enjoy hearing the Rex Nelon Singers this morning and the song I woke up with this morning! I pray you will have a wonderful Thursday!
Love this song, had not heard it in a long time, thanks Gary.
