What a joy to wake up to this great old song written by Lee Roy Abernathy. I can not tell you the last time I remember hearing "I Thank My Savior For It All".
Born in Cartersville, GA and living most of his life in Canton, GA, Mr. Abernathy was a pioneer in Southern Gospel Music. He was known for his songwriting, singing, producing, promoting, publishing and teaching. He was the first to teach thousands to play the piano with a course by mail. He taught voice to many individuals. He composed several songs for Franklin Roosevelt's 1936 presidential campaign. He also ran unsuccessfully for the governor of Georgia in 1958. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1973.
When I think about Mr. Abernathy's songs, I think of them as happy, upbeat and you feel good while singing them and after you're done. In addition, to this morning's song, some of my favorites by Mr. Abernathy are "What A Wonderful Time Up There", "A Newborn Feeling", "He's A Personal Savior", "Way Up In Glory Land", "Take A Moment And Live", "Moving Up To Glory Land", "I'm Building A Bridge", and "I Want To Know More About My Lord".
I hope you will enjoy listening to this older Gaither video of "I Thank My Savior For It All".
I pray you will have a great Monday!
