I woke this morning with one of those old songs I remember hearing growing up. But it was in 1992 (I think) when The McKameys recorded "I Shall Be At Home With Jesus" that really caugth my heart and attention. It was on a CD that I played often in the car. The McKameys kept me company many mornings and evenings on the GA400 drive from Alpharetta to Atlanta as I traveled back and forth to work.
"I Shall Be At Home With Jesus" was recorded but many other southern gospel artists over the years, including The Blackwood Brothers and The Happy Goodman Family, In 1967, The Inspirations recorded it on one of their early albums.
The McKameys retired last year after many years of traveling and singing. I will miss seeing them in concerts and eagerly awaiting their new recordings but I'm glad we have so many great songs they gave us to still enjoy. "I Shall Be At Home With Jesus" is one of those for me. I hope you will enjoy hearing them today.
I hope to see you in Sunday morning worship service this morning! Please pray for our services across our land.
