Happy Friday!
I have always loved flipping through songbooks. I love reading the song titles and the words of the old hymns. I don't read music too good, so unless it's a song I know, it's as if I'm reading a poem or a story. I find it to be an incredible way to read the writer's thoughts about God, Jesus, Heaven, all the amazing things that make our lives so much better. It is also a sweet time for me to commune with God and worship Him. Reading through an old song book also brings back so many memories as I see particular songs.
I love choir practice. I was so happy when we were finally able to assemble again and sing songs in preparation for our Church worship services. As I said, I don't read music and I can't sing, but I sure love hearing others and trying to sing. Choir practice is one of the closet things I have to remind me of the joys of years before; youth choir practice, quartet practice, singings, going to someone's house after lunch on a Sunday, gathering around a piano and singing the afternoon away, chicken wing night at Gerald's and sitting at the beach with friends and guitars and singing late into the night sweet old songs. Yes, gathering with friends and singing has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life.
I think it was a couple of years ago I first heard "I Sang Myself Happy". When I first heard, I thought it was a song about me. I don't know much about this song (Actually I don't know anything except I like it. LOL) I believe I remember it was written by Diane Wilkinson. She has written many popular songs that have been sung by quartets like The Cathedrals, Kingdom Heirs, Gold City, The Inspirations and many others.
I hope you will enjoy hearing The Old Time Preacher's Quartet today. Perhaps you will sing yourself happy today!
I pray you will have a great Friday!
