It has been a while since I have woke very early to a song. I lay there for quite a while thinking about the song, the message and what I needed to say. The longer I laid there, the more it reinforced how amazing it is to have the relationship with our sweet Jesus that we can talk and commune with Him any time. The Bible tell us 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."
"I Must Tell Jesus" is an encouraging old hymn written by Elisha A. Hoffman in 1893. The song reminds us, regardless of our burden or struggle, we do not have to bear it alone for we have Christ to help us along the way. It is said, Rev. Hoffman wrote over 2000 songs in his life including the well known hymns, "Leaning On The Ever Lasting Arms", "Are You Washed In The Blood" and "No Other Friend Like Jesus".
It is told, Rev. Hoffman had gone to visit a widow lady who was suffering and experiencing great sorrow. In his attempt to console and bring comfort in her time of despair, he quoted Bible verses he thought would help but to no avail. He then suggested, there is no better idea than to take it to the Lord Jesus. He said, "You Must Tell Jesus"! Immediately, she responded, cried out "Yes, I must tell Jesus". These words stuck with Rev. Hoffman and when he left, he immediately went home and wrote, "I Must Tell Jesus".
"I must tell Jesus all of my trials, I cannot bear these burdens alone; In my distress He kindly will help me, He ever loves and cares for His own.
I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! I cannot bear my burdens alone; I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.
I must tell Jesus all of my troubles, He is a kind, compassionate Friend; If I but ask Him He will deliver, Make of my troubles quickly an end.
Tempted and tried I need a great Savior, One who can help my burdens to bear; I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus: He all my cares and sorrows will share.
What must I do when worldliness calls me? What must I do when tempted to sin? I must tell Jesus, and He will help me Over the world the vict’ry to win."
So when we are burdened, being tempted, struggling with issues, facing difficult decisions, it's awesome to know, we do not have to face these alone. We have our friends and family but most of all, we have Jesus. Jesus will kindly help us, for He ever loves and cares for His own. Jesus can help us, Jesus alone.
I pray you will be blessed hearing this wonderful old hymn today!
