I'm A Winner Either Way

I often find myself repeating myself (my family and friends remind me often). I sometimes don't know if it is something I've told one person or if it's something I may have written in one of the morning posts. I like to blame it on my oxygen deprived brain but the truth must be told, I'm just getting older. So if some of this morning's post sounds familiar, please forgive me.

It's been 2 1/2 years since that tickle in my throat took me down. There are so many things that happen that makes me think about that experience. Early this week, a dear friend of mine admitted her Dad into the hospital with what appeared to heart failure and due to the virus she was not able to be with him. God is good and her Dad has made an amazing recovery and may even get to go home today. And then today, a family is making the decision to take the young wife off life support. I've listened to so many of the stories associated with Covid19, people being placed on a ventilator and severe organ failure, the many deaths but so many survivals.

I'm thankful as I learned of my condition, I had the peace and comfort of knowing that either way, if I was called home or if I got to go home, I was a winner either way. "I'm A Winner Either Way" is a song I first heard in about 2005 or 2006 and I thought about it often in those long days and hours in the hospital. The song was written in the early 90's by Trina Curtis and Laura Lewis. Mrs. Curtis, a pastor's wife, visited with a church member who had been diagnosed with cancer. She told him she wanted to pray with him for his healing. He shared with her, he was a winner either way. Mrs. Curtis told her friend Mrs. Lewis about the encounter and suggested she should write a song. Well as the days went by, they did write the song together and in 2006 it was voted by the Singing News Magazine as one of most popular songs.

I love all the words of the song, but the chorus goes like this:

"I'm a winner either way,

If I go or if I stay,

Cause I'll still have Jesus with me

Each passing day.

I'll have a healing here below

Or life forever if I go.

Praise the Lord,

I'm a winner either way!"

I hope you will enjoy hearing this amazing song!
