I'll Not Turn My Back On Him Now

I've noticed recently, as I drive around Gadsden, a lot of car horns blowing. I look around and wonder if someone is just sitting at a traffic signal when it's green and someone is trying to get their attention. Or did someone just pull out in front of someone or just what is going on with the horns blowing. Then I see it's an East Gadsden Baptist Church member just proclaiming their faith in Jesus Christ. Well, that's not exactly true, but if there is ever a time we need to tell the world about Jesus, what He has done for us and what He can do for them, that time is now! Maybe going around honking our horns is not a bad idea!

Brother John's message yesterday was powerful as he preached his heart out on the spiritual decay we see all around us. It's easy to see in the news with all the protests, riots and destruction in out cities. But while that is so noticeable, there are other situations that may not be as obvious in other areas of our personal lives, our families, churches, cities and so forth. It can easily happen as we face trouble, trials, and disappointments. The devil will spot the weakness and exploit it with all his might. We compromise, settle, compromise some more, justify and continue to a point where we end up at a place that is not even close to where we started. As Brother John said yesterday, there are dangers associated with being spiritually unprepared.

I read a sad story this weekend. I did not know the individual or the contemporary gospel group he was a part of. But my understanding is that the guy and the group must have been pretty well known. The story stated that he was making a statement that he no longer believes in God. That story made me sad in two ways, One for his poor soul and second because a story of this nature makes the news. This morning, I make a statement, that I believe in God and His awesomeness and His wonderful authority over my life. And further, I am proud that I have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and believe in His promise for eternal life. Now my statement will not make the news, not because I'm unimportant but our "news" does not want to share "the Good News". If I was President, those statements might be published, but they would be twisted and turned and highly questioned to slant them in a negative light. Over many years, we have traveled down a road where we have turned from God's word, we seem to only be interested in watching and reading about distress and trouble. But aren't you glad there is "Good News!"

Maybe it is time for us to drive around honking our horns. A song has just come to my mind. I don't know what it is right off but the words "let it begin with me" is ringing in my ears. Several days or a couple of weeks ago I posted a song, "Have You Told Someone About Jesus?" Not long after I started the blog, I posted a song, "Must I Go Empty Handed." Brother John, I accept your challenge. When I go and meet my sweet Jesus, face to face, I want to hear him say, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

"He gave me my first breath, I'll give Him my last. I'll not turn my back on Him now"", I hope you will enjoy hearing the song I woke up to this morning. I pray you will have an outstanding Monday and if you hear a horn today, pay attention, it might be me!!!
