What a great old hymn to start my day! Written in 1936 by Albert Brumley, I understand of all his many songs, “I’ll Meet You In The Morning” was written with a special note of dedication to his wife and children.
I have so many fond memories of this great old hymn. Too many to write about as I have heard it sung all my entire life. It has been sung and recorded by so many groups over the years. I have two favorite memories.
The first was at revival meetings in old country churches. The small congregations lifting their voices would bring chills! Ms. Mildred has been posting some old pictures from EGBC. I have especially enjoyed the ones where individuals are dressed in garments I often associate with old country churches. To see Brother Ray in his overalls, white shirt and tie with his beautiful smile brought back precious memories. I would not be surprised if on this occasion, the EGBC congregation sung “I’ll Meet You In The Morning”.
Of course, I have to mention my favorite quartet. To attend The Singing In The Smokies was always an amazing experiences. The singing on top of the mountain, in the night air, under the stars and hearing Archie, the group and those in attendance close the service with “I’ll Meet You In The Morning”, I’m not able to describe with words. To hear the singing fill the air, echoing through the valley and off the other mountains was quite an experience.
What a joy to realize that all those who gone before us we can sing “I’ll Meet You In The Morning”! And we can also sing it to those we love here today. If we go first, our friends and love ones can know “I’ll Meet You In The Morning”! What a sweet promise, a Believer has been given.
I pray you will be blessed today and enjoy listening to this wonderful old song.
