I Feel the Touch of Hands so Kind and Tender

The title of today's post is the first line of the song that I woke up to this morning! How sweet to wake up early on a Saturday morning hearing this. Who remembers this song? It was written in the late 60's and has been sung by so many over the years. In case you don't remember it by the first line alone, I'm sure you will remember it by the name and writer, "Sheltered in the Arms of God" by Dottie Rambo.

As I was drinking my first cup of coffee this morning, I decided to do a little research and see how many songs were written by Dottie and if there was a story of how she came to write this one. Well, I learned she is credited with writing over 2500 songs in her lifetime and the story behind this one is a sweet story as she was going through a difficult time in her life. It was also said that she said, "I asked the Lord to let me, at least once each year, write a song that will speak to Christians everywhere." Well, she did that and so much more,

So many artists have recorded this song. I will post the link of Dottie singing it, but there is one person I wish I could post him singing it. During my days of singing with a quartet (before I retired lol), I had the opportunity to sing in a group with my cousin, Wayne. I must say I would rather hear Wayne sing "Sheltered" than anyone else. I was in my late teens or early 20's and I can still hear him sing it and in my opinion like no one else. Wayne now lives in the Philippines and without Facebook we would have never have contact (we don't have too much even that way) so I hope he gets to read this. "Thanks Wayne for waking me up this morning. I thank God for you and I thank you for the memory and my morning wake up song."

This is the link to the story behind the song and following is a link if you would like to hear Dottie sing it and tell a little bit of the story.
