It seems that lately, I go to bed each night with what appears to be the world crumbling all around us. In my nightly prayers, I'm spending more time asking for understanding and asking for peace and healing in all this trouble and difficulties we are going through. It's a world where we have lost our way. The ones who say they are tolerant seem less tolerant. People one day, stand up and speak out for what they believe is right only to back down and apologize the next day for being insensitive. There is so much hate and the commandment "Love Thy Neighbor" has virtually disappeared. Evil is running rampant and there are not many with "strong voices" in leadership positions fighting it. I'm not a very smart person and you can call me simple minded, but I believe the answer is found in God's word. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) says "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
And with all of this, I have the joy of waking to song like "I Can Trust Jesus". I believe this song was written in about 2007 by Gerald Crabb. I have heard it over the years but for some reason it has really touched me the last few times I have listened to it. I have come to really enjoy hearing The Collinsworth Family and I love to hear them sing these words:
"God picked up a sparrow that could no longer fly.
He brushed off its wounds, and then watched it soar across the sky.
If He's mindful of creation, on this I can depend:
I am His child, and I can place all my trust in Him.
I can trust Jesus. I can trust Jesus.
He never once has failed to meet my need.
He is my strong tower; the strength in my weakest hour.
I can trust Jesus. He takes care of me.
I have prayed some prayers and felt they never were heard;
But I held to God's hand and kept right on trusting in His Word.
My "wants" and God's desires don't always agree;
But I lean on His will for He always knows what's best for me."
I pray you will be blessed by this beautiful song this morning!
