I Call It Home

I remember so well the first time I heard this song. It was probably in 2000 and I was living in Columbia, SC. The Inspirations were in town one night singing at a church and of course I went to see them. As I recall, they had a "standing date" at this church each year to hold a singing service. The church was full with chairs in the aisles. There was no social distancing, that's for sure. LOL

An older gentleman from the congregation asked Mike to sing "I'll Call It Home" and they did. I think you can say the Holy Spirit was there in that church that night, as they sang this song for 10 to 15 minutes. In my opinion those were the best moments of the entire service. Now what makes this a bit unusual, "I Call It Home" was a song, The Inspirations never recorded and it was the first time I had ever heard the group sing a song in a service they had not recorded. But I found out Mike had recorded it on his first personal CD. I purchased that CD later and it is the main one that stayed in my car's CD player for years. It's the only CD I have on my computer. I now have it on a memory stick so I can play it in my car. "I Call It Home" is one of my favorite Squire Parsons' songs. I remember several years ago, Rick with only his guitar singing "I Call It Home" in our Sunday morning worship service. I don't think I've ever told him, but I wish he would do it again.

This morning, this song has an even more special meaning and I'm grateful to wake up with it today. Yesterday, my family experienced a tragic event, that you can't prepare for, you don't expect and you hear words you don't want to hear. Late yesterday afternoon, I received word, my youngest niece's husband was killed in a car accident going home from out of town. We can rejoice to know, he has gone home to be with his Savior, but he leaves his sweet wife and 3 small children. I ask if you would please remember the family in your prayers!

Gary, love this song. Prayers for Lisa and family. Glenda had just called and told me. I have extra room at my house for any of you.
