Last night, I was sitting in my chair reflecting on the week. In so many ways it was like a blur, But then I started to realize that every day, I learned of the passing of someone I knew or the love one of a dear friend or family member. These losses included former clients, my brother-in-law's mother, and as I said, a sweet friend's father. I don't think I ever recall a week where every day I experienced the loss of someone I knew. I guess that goes with getting older as your friends and acquaintances are also.
But the week started with the joyous occasion of my cousin's grandson, accepting Christ as his Savior and I was able to see the beautiful pictures posted of his baptism. By evidence of their life and testimonies, each of the people I knew that died this week, made this same most important decision in their life as Evan.
Of course, there's not a death that occurs that does not "hit home'. I always think about Mom and Dad and all of my other family and friends that have all left us for a land far better than this. I love the sweet promise that one day we will be together again. I read of Heaven and have sung about it. I suspect as most Christians, I've thought about it and while I can not imagine what Heaven will truly be like and what we will truly experience, I have decided it will be a beautiful place to spend all eternity. How could it not be as Jesus said Himself that He was going to prepare a place for us. Now someone who loved us so much, to die for us, I believe is making a place pretty special.
In 1920, Mrs. A. S. Bridgewater, must have thought the same as she penned her thoughts about Heaven and her anticipation of seeing this beautiful place. It has become a beloved hymn sung and recorded many times, "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be".
"We read of a place that’s called heaven, It’s made for the pure and the free; These truths in God’s Word He hath given, How beautiful heaven must be.
Refrain: How beautiful heaven must be, Sweet home of the happy and free; Fair haven of rest for the weary, How beautiful heaven must be.
In heaven no drooping nor pining, No wishing for elsewhere to be; God’s light is forever there shining, How beautiful heaven must be.
Pure waters of life there are flowing, And all who will drink may be free; Rare jewels of splendor are glowing, How beautiful heaven must be.
The angels so sweetly are singing, Up there by the beautiful sea; Sweet chords from their gold harps are ringing, How beautiful heaven must be."
I hope you will enjoy hearing this wonderful old hymn this morning!
And then I found this video clip. It describes so much better the thoughts I tried to convey in my rambling. I hope you will be blessed by hearing this video.
I hope you have a Happy Saturday!
