Hold To God's Unchanging Hand

Last night, I was watching a TV show where the character asked his assistant to download something to his PalmPilot. I remember having a PalmPilot. As I traveled, almost everything important to my business was stored on this tiny device. Schedules, appointments, contacts, notes and probably some other stuff but I don't recall my assistant's ability to download something to it unless it was connected to her computer. Maybe this TV character had a newer or more expensive version.

But I started to think about all the changes I have gone though at almost break neck speeds. Sometimes as I write, I'm thinking about something as if it was just a few weeks ago and then I realize it was 30, 40 or 50 years ago. It seems only a couple of days ago, I received a call to come to Shoney's for a piece of hot fudge cake to usher in the New Year and here we are today, already 7 months later and just think about all we have gone through this year.

We started the year, thinking that we had almost everything we wanted right at our immediate use. But just like that, we learned how temporary the things we enjoy are and how quickly they can be taken away. The things we hold dear like going to church was no longer available to us. Things we take for granted, like toilet paper disappeared from the shelves. We are here for just a short time and all the things we accumulate, all the things we experience are just temporary and are subject to change with one exception. And that is God!

God is in whom we can invest our lives and we will never loose anything but gain everything. Holding to God's unchanging hand and putting our trust in Him is the only thing that we can have complete and total confidence in. "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" is a song I love because it proclaims one's belief in God to whom all certainties in this world belong. "Trust and Obey", "Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus" are other songs I love because they emphasize how and what we can and should trust.

What a joy to wake up to "Hold To God's Unchanging Hand". Another amazing song to inspire me to trust Jesus more and more and my Heavenly Father. It was written in 1906 by Jennie B. Wilson and the music from Franklin L. Eiland. It has been published in 82 hymnals. Another amazing song that has stood the test of time.

I hope you will enjoy hearing it this morning!
