Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All

Yesterday, I learned of 3 confirmed virus cases in the county I live. We had been fortunate as the virus has spread all over the world, with so many areas hit so very hard. It goes without saying, this virus has created panic, chaos, fear and every terrible emotion we can imagine. It has made us miss church, not be able to visit friends and family, have to stay locked up in our homes. Yes, it is bad and we must take precautions to guard against catching and spreading it. And most importantly we must pray!

But throughout history, we have had other difficult times and this probably will not be the last time we have to endure something terrible in our lives. In a few days, we will celebrate the death and resurrection of our Savior. I'm embarrassed to think about any complaining I've done with the discomfort I've felt, the inconvenience placed upon me, or any of the things I've fussed about having to do without because I think I'm entitled. This morning, I woke up thinking about Jesus. He lived, died and rose again for me! He's gone away to prepare a place for me that where He is, I may be also. He endured the pain, suffering, shame like I can't imagine for me! I deserved it. He didn't, yet He was willing to go to Calvary for me! For all of us!

I'm humbled and thankful this morning. I don't remember anybody, anywhere promising me the road of life I travel would never get a little bumpy every now and then, but what a sweet promise to know that "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All". Okay, here I go again, but this has always been one of my favorite hymns. It was written in 1945 by W, Oliver Cooper. Mr. Cooper was born in Georgia but later moved to Cullman, Alabama where he resided and died. During his life he was actively involved in music including singing with a radio quartet in Birmingham. He was a prolific writer and composed over 1500 songs during his life. When I read things like this, I am amazed. I have trouble writing my name, yet these hymnist are so divinely inspired, they can express themselves with beautiful words that uplift, inspire, and give us the songs to rejoice and sing praises to our Lord.

I hope you will enjoy hearing this simple and sweet song of promise this morning.
