"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Deuteronomy 31:6
Simply said, 2020 has been one of those years. Right? Every time we turn around, it seems as if something else has happened. I suspect many of us have scratched our heads and maybe even become fearful as we have wondered about the craziness we have gone through. We have found ourselves homebound so much this year and feel so detached from other people. Even when we are out in public we don't often have the same interaction with people. I know, I find myself often not recognizing someone I know because of the mask. And when I do see someone I know, I don't know if I should just speak, bump fists, elbows or what. The other person must feel the same way because it is awkward at times. I miss the handshakes and hugs as we always knew just what to do.
During the year, we may have even experienced times of loneliness as a result of all the "stuff" that just is not normal to us. But isn't it good to know, that throughout God's Word, He has promised He will never leave us of forsake us? As we read the scriptures, God was there in the midst of war, famine, flood, and storms. Today, He is with us in 2020, Covid 19 and He will be with us always!
I loved reading the comments, texts and messages yesterday as many responded to "The Old Gospel Ship". So many of the thoughts were about it being an "oldie and goodie". Well, this morning I woke to another "oldie". "He Will Be With Me" is one that I had to lay there for a few minutes to think about and recognize as it has been a very long time since I have heard it. I could hear the words but the title of the song was just not coming to me. (And I refuse to talk about my memory this morning. LOL) Honestly, I was afraid I may not be able to find a You Tube link to share.
Perhaps not widely known or sung, the words to "He Will Be With Me" was written by James Rowe in the early 1900's. James Rowe was known to have penned the words to many songs during his life and normally he would work with someone else to add the music. I suspect his best known song is "Love Lifted Me".
I pray you will enjoy as I did listening to "He Will Be With Me" today. I hope it will be encouragement to all of us as we continue through these crazy times we are experiencing. The chorus says:
"He will be with my soul every hour of the day,
He will keep me His own, ever step of the way;
Til at Heaven's bright gate, His dear face I shall see,
I know my Redeemer will ever be walking with me."
I pray your Saturday will be awesome!
