The word "touched" is a special word. I have often heard people say during this pandemic, one of the things we miss most are the hugs, handshakes, pats on the back. The fist and elbow bumps just don't have the same effect. I, for one, believe that human touch adds a special connection to our relationships or encounters. Social distancing and face masks have limited the connections even more, yet we adjust and tolerate the conditions we must deal with and we continue with our lives.
I'm thankful there is no social distancing from Jesus. We are able to experience His sweet touch every day and in every aspect of our lives. It is my understanding, the song "He Touched Me" started with a discussion of the number of times in the New Testament the word "touched' was used in an encounter with Jesus. Bill Gaither took those thoughts from that discussion and within a short time, he gave us "He Touched Me". Written in 1963, it quickly became popular and has been sang and recorded by many and we often hear it still being sang today. I suspect there are untold numbers of people whose lives have been changed as as a result of listening to the words of this song.
There is no doubt as we start this day and this week, we all want and need His sweet touch on our lives. As I wake this morning, I am aware of a couple of families who will be experiencing significant, life changing events today. I'm praying for His sweet touch and loving embrace to bring them comfort, peace and healing today. I hope you will join me with your prayers.
I pray many blessings on all our lives this week!!!
