If you ever pass me in the car, you will probably catch me singing. Most often, I'm listening to a CD or Enlighten radio but there are times when I'm just singing. (Don't worry. The car windows are up and with traffic noise I'm sure you wouldn't hear me. LOL) And when I'm just singing, there is a good chance, I'm singing "He'll Hold My Hand". I don't know why, I just sing it. I consider it one of my favorite songs, but it seems the only time I think about it is when I'm driving. So I consider it my "car song" LOL.
I remember "He'll Hold My Hand" being sung by Ron Hutchins of the Inspirations Quartet. Ronnie was the original lead singer of the Inspirations, left them for a while only to come back and sing with them again and be a part of the group in one way or the other for many years. I loved Ronnie's voice, his stage presence, his love for the other members of the group, but most of all his love of our Lord. Ronnie took the lead on a lot of memorable songs but I think this must be my favorite of all he sung.
This may surprise you, but I did not wake up to Ronnie and the Inspirations but to Ronnie and the Lefevres. Ronnie sang with them several years in the early 70's as the older Lefervres began to retire and before the group later became the Nelons.
