What a wonderful song to wake up to that reminds me of the power and authority that Jesus possesses as my Lord and Savior and the Son of God! I do not recall the first time I heard the words of this "chorus". I say, chorus as this morning, I am relating it to times in my teenage years when our youth group would sing it during a sweet time of worship. I have heard "He Is Lord" throughout my life, but I always seem to think of it terms of a spontaneous chorus the congregation sings in time of worship.
When I woke up hearing "He Is Lord" I loved the time of reassurance and thanksgiving but I began to realize I knew very little about the history of this song (as I do most songs I wake too) so I decided to do a little research. But what I found was very little. It appears that the writer of this "chorus" is unknown. What I read, it is thought that it may have originated in the early 60"s as part of the charismatic movement of the day. And it "caught on" and began to be sung by many and published in an increasing number of hymnals over the years. Additional lyrics have been added. "He Is King", "He Is Love", and "He Is Life".
I woke up hearing it sung by a congregation, but as I begin to find a link to post, I remembered, The Collingsworth Family singing "He Is Lord" during one of the first "online concerts" I listened to when this quarantined stuff started. I hope you will enjoy hearing them this morning!!!
See you in Prayer Meeting tonight!
