"Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible
and He will do what no other power can do."
I love this chorus of God's Power and the encouragement it provides. It is the very last song in the Redback Church Hymnal, page 410. I do not recall hearing this chorus in a long time until I woke to it one morning several months ago. I think it was early in the pandemic about the time we started realizing the true seriousness of the virus and the lockdowns started occurring. Since then, I have have found myself singing it several times. Imagine that with all the things we have had going on.
"Got Any Rivers To Cross" is another one of those songs that remind me of my teenage years. Larry Ferguson, the youth pastor and organist at Glen Haven Baptist Church I heard sing it often. Glen Haven was not the church I was a member but I went to their services often, sang there and went there often with many friends who were members.
Three years ago, I would be having to write this while on a ventilator and in a coma. It was January 19th, I went into the hospital. As I understand it, all of the doctors, nurses, staff and anyone involved had given me little chance of survival. But I think they forgot. "My God specializes in things thought impossible and He will do what no other power can do."
As we continue to live through a period of time with chaos, uncertainty, hatred, sickness, and so many things, it was a joy to wake to "Got Any Rivers" this morning. There is joy! There is hope! And those are found in God and His love for us, if we only place our trust in Him.
Often, only the chorus of "Got Any Rivers" is sung along with another song. So I will post a version that I liked listening to this morning!
I pray you will be encouraged by listening to this chorus this morning and that you will have a blessed day!
