I was able to wake up twice to this sweet promise this morning! I woke up early but unlike normal, I went back to sleep and woke up a little later hearing "God Will Take Care Of You". After a chaotic week, a week with anxiety and almost panic by so many, it is so good to wake up with this beautiful song.
After prayers and going to bed last night, I continued to think about the Corona Virus, the news, comments by friends and posts on social media. There are so many comments and points of view. People saying this is just God's way of punishing us. Or people questioning why God would let bad things happen to good people. I certainly don't have the answers to these questions or probably even the right response to the comments but I know somewhere that helps me try to understand and help with any anxiousness I may have. And that's in the scriptures and talking directly with our Heavenly Father through prayer.
Throughout the Bible there are so many scripture references to the assurance that God wants and will take care of us. God's words also acknowledges that at times our faith may slightly falter and a little anxiety might creep in. But, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 6-7 KJV.
I read a little story on the internet yesterday and I'm going to believe it's true. A very young boy with a disability was watching all the craziness on TV and due to his condition began to tense up became very agitated and nervous. His older sister took him by the hands and had him repeat after her. "But God did not give me a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. ("For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)
Matthew 6:34 says: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
There is no doubt that today, we must take every precaution to take care of ourselves. But we should also trust Him, believe Him and know that God cares for us. He will take care of us today just like He did yesterday and He will tomorrow. Again, as I said earlier, what a sweet promise.
"God Will Take Care Of You" was written in 1904 by Civilla D. Martin and there's a sweet story behind the song. Also, of interest, (especially for my dear friend and Brother John) the words of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" were also written by her. I hope you will enjoy, hearing the Heritage Singers preform this beautiful song.
