It has been a while since I have woke up to a song that I use to sing with the boy's quartet as a teenager. Over the years we sang together, we learned and sang a bunch of songs but this was one of my favorites.
Mrs. Wade had a wonderful talent for picking songs that would give each four of us the opportunity to be featured and sing praises to God at the same time. It was ok for me never to be featured (I was a little shy …. seriously) as I would always rather hear David, David or Bob sing. But I appreciate that Mrs. Wade didn't leave me out. After all everyone wanted to hear a little bass singing from a 15 or 16 year old kid even if he couldn't sing the part. LOL
I don't know a lot about the song "God Made A Way". I know it was a song recorded by many old quartets, like The Stamps, The Statesman, The Blackwood Brothers and The Florida Boys. It has been recorded more recently by The Inspirations, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound and others but it is not one of those songs most people remembers or requests. I associate this song with J. D. Sumner and me. LOL I was going to draw some similarity to the two of us but the only one I can think of is we both sang this song. He was remembered for it, I wasn't. He was old and I was a kid. He could sing it and I could only try. I hope you see this only as an attempt to be a little humorous, but I remember this as a fun song that the boy's quartet use to enjoy singing.
There is one fond memory that this song also creates for me. During our services, we mostly sang, that was what we were there to do. But Mrs. Wade always wanted each of us to take a moment and share our personal testimonies. It was often before we would sing "God Made A Way" I would share what God had done in my life and then I would introduce the song. It was an amazing experience those years I was able to sing with the boys and to serve our Lord. I appreciated it then and as I grow older, I appreciate it more and more.
I hope you will enjoy hearing The Inspirations sing, "God Made A Way".
