What a fun old song to start my day. It is a wonderful old song that has been around since 1925 when the Stamps Quartet first recorded it on the Victor label later becoming the RCA Victor label. It sold over one million records and became The Stamps Quartet theme song over their long history. Many others have also recorded it but I think my favorite has always been hearing George Younce and The Catherdrals.
"Give the world a smile each day, Helping someone on life's way, From the paths of sin, bring the wanderers in, To the master's fold to stay, Help to cheer the lone and sad, Help to make some pilgrim glad, Let your life so be that all the world might see, The joy of serving Jesus with a smile!"
Perhaps on this dreary, rainy Saturday (well that's what it is here right now) we can all bring the world a smile. With us all "hunkered down" in our homes during this time of virus, maybe we could send someone a smile with a phone call, a text message, a Facebook post, or maybe just a little handwritten note, placed in the mail (I think the mail is still running.) This morning I'm a little late with my post, because I was "catching up" on reading some of my messages and Facebook posts from last night and this morning. There were many smiles for me. I enjoyed all, but one really brought a smile to start my day. It was from a person, who I will miss seeing tomorrow as she always brings a smile. But today I'm sure she sent a smile to many by posting a memory and a picture of two beautiful trees in her backyard. As the song says, Let your life so be that all the world might see, The joy of serving Jesus with a smile!" I promise, these words apply perfectly to this precious lady!
I hope you will enjoy hearing one of my favorite video clips of The Cathedrals and "Give The World A Smile".
