"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots." Luke 23:33-34
What an wonderful way to wake this morning hearing this great old hymn. Written by William R. Newell and first published in 1895. It is truly one of those grand old hymns that has stood the test of time. I have always loved when the song leader calls for the congregation to sing "At Calvary". I have always loved when a group or an artist sings it.
"Years I spent in vanity and pride, Caring not my Lord was crucified, Knowing not it was for me He died On Calvary.
Refrain: Mercy there was great, and grace was free; Pardon there was multiplied to me; There my burdened soul found liberty At Calvary.
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned; Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned, Till my guilty soul imploring turned To Calvary.
Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus everything, Now I gladly own Him as my King, Now my raptured soul can only sing Of Calvary!
Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan! Oh, the grace that brought it down to man! Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span At Calvary!"
I pray you will enjoy hearing The Collingsworth Family sing "At Calvary" today! I hope you will have a blessed day!
